This couple had their eye on beautiful new shutters. So, they did what most homeowners do and met with a few different window treatment suppliers.
They had already met with several companies’ consultants when their appointment with our designer, Rob, arrived.
At Southwest Blinds & Shutters, we take our time with consultations. In fact, our designers are only allowed to complete two consultations at most on any day.

They had a tricky window setup in the kitchen.
This specific window had ½” tiles installed around the face of the drywall openings and a tall kitchen faucet. Both of these features would impact the ability of shutters to fully hinge open and closed on this window.
And this was something the homeowners were very concerned about. But Rob, like every member of our team, is focused on innovation and finding better solutions with our products.
He discussed several design solutions that would make shutters work flawlessly in this location. Absolutely amazed, the homeowners told him that none of the other companies offered any of this information or given any proper solutions.
Finding A Shutter Solution
Rob created an ingenious design that would allow the couple to have the shutters they wanted without making dramatic kitchen modifications.
The original arrangement with the drywall window opening surrounded by tile would prevent the outer hinge of the shutters from being correctly mounted. To compensate for this, Rob designed the new shutters to have a ½” buildout on the backside of the frames.
And he explained how they could create a unique setup to allow the shutters to be fully functional.
All they had to do was implement the correct panel configuration.
Unlike the other shutter companies the couple met with, Rob had plenty of examples from previous projects where he created innovative solutions. This gave the couple incredible confidence in Rob’s abilities and our dedication to our customers.
